Description of the vehicle
The Jaguar XK150 made its debut on the market at the time of the exceptional splendor of British motoring. The model came into production in 1957 and replaced XK120 and XK140 in the offer, while being a logical development of the ideas of its predecessors. The stylistic changes have modernized the appearance of the body and improved the comfort of travel, although some conservative users have criticized the high-level door line that has shaped the silhouette of the larger limousines. The car could be ordered in three versions – as a roadster and a coupé with a soft (drophead) or hard (fixed head) roof. The drive used previously known, row, six-cylinder units that underwent special strengthening treatments. In its time, the XK 150 was the fastest mass-produced car in the world and the first with disc brakes on all four wheels.
The copy offered by the Ardor Auctions is the most advanced variety marked with the letter „S”. Under the hood there is a 3.8-liter engine powered by three SU8 SU. The car left the factory in 1959 as a fixed head coupe (FHC), and went to Poland in 2001. Since then, it is in the hands of a private collector. Comprehensive car refurbishment was carried out in the best Polish workshop specializing in the reconstruction of classic Jaguars. After several years from the completion of the repair, the vehicle still looks great, and the quality of the work does not raise any doubts. The iconic British green body perfectly matches the cognac, leather upholstery. Due to the fact that the current owner wanted to use Jaguar regularly, it was decided to change the original four-speed manual transmission. It has also been replaced by the Getrag manual gearbox with one more gear. This is a common modification that reduces fuel consumption and reduces cabin noise at higher speeds. The brakes were also improved using a complete set of the renowned British company, and the cooling system was also improved. So prepared XK150 can successfully go on the road more often than other classics from this era, he will not be afraid of longer recreational routes or participation in rally events for monuments. Having this model has always been associated with a certain prestige, if only because of the limited number of cars built. XK150 in the 3.8 S FHC edition is only 150 pieces around the world.
